Much improved sound quality….But – Great improvement of sound quality! however while in open mesh mode the background noise reduce the music level as the unit thinks someone is talking, which is not the case. At Low speed or standing still, everything works perfect. However once I pick up speed over 50 miles per hour; the wind, engine and outside noise overwhelm the microphone, the music shuts-down and will not come back until I’ll slow-down or stop; basically until the outside noise level is just about gone. All settings directed by sena’s tech-support applied and the unit simply can’t differentiate between human voice and background noise. The only solution is to turn the mic off while keeping open mesh on. It is a shame as it is not as useful as it could have been.

– Habe mir das Sena 50r gekauft wegen der Radiofunktion und der besseren Lautsprecher. Das Headset ist von der Tonqualität wirklich top. Musik hören macht spaß. Habe mein Smartphone (iPhone) mit meinem Navi (Zumo XT) gekoppelt, und das Navi mit dem 50r. Bei dieser Konfiguration ist alles top Navi Hinweise sind klar und deutlich, ebenso Telefongespräche, MP3 vom Zumo XT sind von der Qualität richtig gut. Aber wenn ich das Sena Headset meiner Frau zusätzlich mit dem 50r per Bluetooth kopple ( was laut Sena problemlos möglich sein sollte ) ist es vorbei mit der Freude. Sobald die 2 Sena Headsets verbunden sind, bricht die Verbindung von meinem 50r zum Navi ab. Mehrfacher Kontakt zu Sena brachte keinen Erfolg, es wurden alle empfohlenen Einstellungen vorgenommen und getestet, es funktioniert nicht. Wer also solo unterwegs ist, Navi, Radio, MP3 hören und telefonieren möchte, ist mit dem 50r super bedient. Nur gegensprechen mit Sozius klappt auch, aber mit Sozius gegensprechen und z. B. Navi Hinweise empfangen geht nicht, und genau das wird von Sena beworben, bin sehr enttäuscht. Übrigens, in den einschlägigen Foren kann man nachlesen das es sehr viele Biker gibt die ebenfalls über verbindungsabbrüche klagen. Für mich ein no Go von Sena. Sollte durch ein Firmwareupdate das Verbindungsproblem behoben werden, gibts 5 Sterne, so leider nur 2.

Thrilled with the functionality of sena 50s – Coming from a Cardo freecom 4 plus, I was expecting this to be a little better all the way around considering it’s the flagship Sena priced about 200 dollars more for the Duo.. my expectations were blown away.. the Sena 50s HK version is light years ahead of the freecom in every aspect. The ability to take phone calls at pretty much any speed is a game changer. The freecom became hard to hear at about 55 mph and over 60 wasn’t an option as there was too much wind noise for people to hear me, as well as not enough enough volume without distortion for me to hear them. For reference I am on a BMW sport bike with almost no wind protection above my chest unless I’m tucked down wearing a high end modular helmet with the boom Mic. With the sena I can talk to friends and customers and they literally haven’t a clue that I’m on a motorcycle going 80mph. All I have to do is turn the volume up from ~40% to 60% and I can talk to about 100 mph.

SENA 50S. Needs a lot of work. REVIEW UPDATED JULY 2021. – I’ve been a Sena user since the pre-USB SMH10 days. I have thousands of hours using their devices. I currently own 2 10S units, 2 20S EVO units (with Sena HD speakers), 2 Cavalry half helmets, and 2 SR10 Bluetooth adapters. All of my Sena devices are running their latest firmware.
