Turtle Shell – This jacket is as thick as a turtle’s shell (which is very comforting!) The cowhide will need to be broken it to make it less stiff. Although the description says it is black, you may want to think a dark dusty gray. Due to the antiquing or weathering process, it is more of a faded grayish-brownish-black, but it looks great! With the pads in, movement is limited initially, but gets better as the Jacket is worn. The fit is accurate. I am a 42 chest and purchased a large. It fit great…no bagginess. There is good protection against wind, but the collar can be irritating at first due to the hardness of the material. The rubbing on your neck can cause slight rash initially, similar to an extremely heavily starched shirt collar. Sleeves are a bit longer than normal jackets of this nature, and all of the zippers could use a pull ribbon to make them easier to operate with gloves on. It is a very heavy jacket, too. With the lining in, it is warm and comfy. I had confidence this jacket would protect me well in a fall. The CE pads fit good and snug. However, the price seemed to fluctuate a lot when I purchased, so I ended up sending it back. I ordered the jacket, and before it was delivered the price dropped $10, then another $10 briefly. There was no way to price match and get credit in my Amazon account (or I wasn’t informed how to do this). The seller is very responsive (responded within one day), which impressed me, so I ended up ordering a different Jacket from the seller. All said, this is a great jacket with a quality build and an absolute presence of motorcycle “cool”!

Not bad, with some caveats – I am a beginner motorcycle rider, and wanted a jacket that would be stylish, offer some protection, and could be worn when not riding without looking dorky. I use my motorcycle for commuting, so I ride in this jacket every day.

YES!!!!!! – This coat is great!!!!!! I used Leather Honey Leather Conditioner let that soak in placed in garbage bag and threw in dry med heat/delicate to shrink and soften. Being 5’3″ 127LBS, a small was still big in me. I love this coat and so does my woman!!!

Must be cool if Will Ferrell wears one! – I’m 5’8″ and I ordered the small. The fit is ok, but the sleeves are a little too long. It gets better once you’ve worn it for a while and the wrinkles that form cause the sleeves to pull up a bit. I’ve thought about washing it in warm water to shrink it, but decided that I can live with it this way. Overall, I like this jacket and I just noticed in an add for the movie “Eurovision” that Will Ferrell wears one, too. The sleeves are a bit too long for him as well, but he doesn’t seem to mind!

Why the bad reviews? – There are several bad reviews about this jacket. I’m not sure if other people got a different jacket, or they’ve smokened some bad pots, but the jacket I got matched the description, fit as described, and only had a slight smell of leather (which is as it should be). Vegans may find the smell offensive, I happen to like it.

I ride pretty much every day to work and back. it’s a 30 min ride and I live in Ohio so the mornings recently have been around 45-55 degrees. I am SHOCKED at how warm this jacket is and how well it keeps the wind out. I have not even used the liner yet. The ride home has been in the mid to high 70’s and I am not sweating when I get home. My old jacket had both issues of letting wind in and sweating when it was hot out. It seems fairly well made also. The only issues I see with it are the elbow armor is a little low for me, my elbow is at the top of the armor but still covers. The back armor is pretty stiff, sort of feels like a piece of plywood on your back. not uncomfortable but strange. I would have no issues purchasing this jacket again if needed.
