It beats plastic – It’s waaaayyy better than many plastic brackets available on the market, and this not more expensive in comparison. As great as it is, there are many flaws in the design. Let’s start with the good: – CnC aluminum, – acceptable weight ~100+ grams, – nothing plastic found, – good for big phone even with case installed, – can be reconfigured according to your preferred position, – it keeps thing centered and up without crowding my handlebar. Ok now the flaws. : – screwing mechanism is secure, but a chore at the same time. I wish in the next iteration, they can copy bike QR skewer- I like how they used a cross on the bracket to keep it from turning aroind incessantly, and here is where I wish they’d done it on the stem installation. You can keep it tight, but should you loctite it? I certainly don’t recommend that. Make sure you installed it right, because moving it to the right or left will undo the bolt, and scary for that heavy phone to be bouncing around. The claws are strong, and the bolt is quite long in case that happens. So yeah, make sure that the only thing moving is the side screw to attach the phone securely. – It’s great to look at while empty without phone installed. But after you put your phone on there, it is off centered. It can be bothersome if you behaving like Adrian Monk.

Securely holds phone (possibly too securely) – It works great to hold the phone in place. However, the spring is very tight for getting the phone in and out of the holder. I suppose that is a great thing on a motorcycle where you need your phone stable over any variety of rough roads. However, using it on a stationary bike, I don’t need that level of grip.

Interesting top cap mount – limited adjustability – This was the first time I’ve even seen a phone holder that mounts this way. It replaces the headset top cap, which limits the positioning by a fair amount – if you’re using a long stem like me this makes the phone sit closer to my body than I prefer – I’m used to offset handlebar mounts putting the phone/GPS out in front of the handlebars where I can glance at it more easily.

Nicely Finished – This is the first phone mount I’ve wanted. Most that I’ve seen in stores are plastic, and attach to the handlebars (off-center, so not ideal for viewing, and taking up space I need for lights). This one is nicely machined aluminum, and mounts to the headset.

Only one thing needed to make it a five star product – This mount is built like a tank. I would not hesitate to use it even for downhilling (mountain bike riding). It only has one flaw. As you can see in the picture, if your phone is larger than the mount, it will offset to the right. So unless your phone is very thin, it will always be off center by a bit. Messes with my OCD but otherwise a very nice phone holder with adjustability (at least when installing). Then it doesn’t move at all after you screw your phone in!

Good build quality, not suitable for phone with multiple side buttons. – Build quality on the phone holder is excellent. The (single) mounting point stability could be an issue over time if the holder is exposed to a gradual accumulation of grease, oil or other lubricant-type fluids. This could be mitigated (and was) by using a thin layer of butyl around the handlebar where it was mounted.
