pretty annoying when you have to hit “STAY ON” every … – After just one (very long) trip it started acting up: intermittent “External power lost” message on GPS, pretty annoying when you have to hit “STAY ON” every few minutes, got to the point that I would leave it unplugged. Battery can last a while but back light is essential when trying to navigate at speed.

For dashboard mount I used the Ram Mount ball joint base (2) and the Ram Mount double socket arm. – I went through 3 windshield suction type holders for my Garmin Montana 610 to use in my Ranger and broke all 3. My neighbor had this mount for his on his enduro and told me how much he liked it so I ordered one. I’ve been out wheeling 4 trips now and this mount is rock steady. I wired it to the ignition side so it powers up soon as I turn the key. I’ll never sweat remembering to charge my GPS again. When you turn the ignition off the 610 will ask to power off or stay on. Very nice set up.

Nice! – I bought this to mount my Garmin Montana 600 on my motorcycles. Of course, shortly after mounting this on motorcycle number 2, the GPS unit started to fail. In researching a replacement Montana 600, I found it was $400 while the new Montana 700i was only $700 and I sold my in reach to cover the difference. But, the Montana 700i uses a slightly different cradle, so I had to get the new cradles for it.

Great Mount for ADV and Dual Sport Riding! – I’ve been a DeLorme GPS user for 6 years now, using both PN-40 and PN-60w with SPOT, and though I prefer their functionality and software over Garmin, I am tired of waiting for DeLorme to change their form-factor to something more useful for my needs.

After one good weekend in the woods – After one good weekend in the woods, this mount is still holding up well. Even after a couple of low speed falls, my Garmin Montana 650T never skipped a beat.

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MONTANA 700 SERIES – The advertisement should list the Montana model compatible with this mount

Only Wish I had bought this sooner – This thing plus the Garmin Montana GPS unit may be the best investment I’ve made in a long time. Take care to install the power leads into an extra switched power (there is usually one behind the headlight and one under the seat on most motorcycles). When I turn the key on my bike (DR650) the unit turns on and when I turn the key off, the unit prompts me to power down or run off of battery power. The mount is very stable, I coupled it with a ram mount. Only wish I had pulled the trigger sooner. The instructions are not super helpful, I was nervous about plugging directly into 12v, but after some research I saw that others had done the same. It works like a champ and with some clean cable routing, this is a set it and forget it set up!

I love the idea of the security torx locking device – I bought this mount to go with a small ram system for my snowmobile mounted Garmin Montana. I love the idea of the security torx locking device, although I haven’t had to use that feature. The best part, is that I don’t have to have any cord coming from the GPS itself to the sled, just snap The GPS out and put it in your pocket. The only potential down side is that RAM is apparently no longer making the small square ball mounting plate with the AMPS hole configuration. I was still able to get it on amazon through GPS city,. but wonder how long they’ll be available. Paying attention RAM people??
