Perfect match for the BMW Powerlet plug – My BMW K1600 has a Powerlet plug installed from the factory on top of the dash. Temporarily I was able to use an old Powerlet to SAE cigarette lighter plug, then use an SAE duel USB plug. Ugh… not optimal and not reliable. This plug fits the bill eliminating two pieces of equipment from the chain, looks sharp, and has a battery monitor to boot.

Don’t leave it plugged in. – Nifty. The novelty of seeing your system voltage wears off when you realize it is showing that all the time. That means it is very slowly draining your battery even when nothing is plugged in.

Stopped working after three uses…Should be under warranty. Amazon is checking – I have a BMW R1200R that’s 10 years old. Loved this thing for three uses, and then all of a sudden it stopped working..probably some internal fuse issue. Chatting with Amazon support about what options I have as more than 30 days have passed. When it did work it was nice though.

Accuracy of voltage readings. – This product does exactly what it says. If you’re looking for 100% precision voltage readings then purchase a test meter. This particular one always reads between 1 to 2 tenths of a volt lower than actual voltage. With no real technical information on this item I really do not know if it’s within manufacturer’s tolerances. It is a good reliable unit for 98% of what the average person is going to use it for. I would purchase another one if needed.

USB has come to Motorcycling – I have a vintage European motorcycle that has a Hella DIN connector on the dash for powering accessories. The only accessory I need is USB power to run/charge my cell phone on the bike. This unit solves that problem and adds the advantage of having a digital voltmeter built into it. The only drawback is that this outlet is wired directly to the battery, meaning it is always hot, and the device has no “off” switch, so I have to remember to remove the adapter from the bike whenever I am away from it. Other than that small inconvenience the device works well and the green voltage reading is highly visible.
