It’s a compromise – fits a little less, vents are an afterthought – So, your Arai helmet comes with a pretty sleek visor that fits the helmet well, both along the edges and latching up and down. This visor, though labeled as a genuine Arai component, does not fit as securely. It’s possible to lift the visor from the downward position without pressing down on the release latch first (Corsair X) and the transitional positions are “softer.”

Works as intended! – Not sure why you are reading this, but it works exactly as you think it does! It adds a little more wind noise and when fully raised above and goin faster than say 80, you can feel it tug at your head some. BUT it is worth noting that it’s less of a tug compared to how other helmets feel natively. The helmet is sweet and the visor only adds to it!

extra wind noise, catches wind at high speeds – Love the functionality of this, but if you are like me and commute during the day when its sunny, its perfect. But I commute home at night too, where its not so perfect. But it still might be for you.

Shield works well but could be darker – I like this shield, but I wish it was just a bit darker for very bright sun. The shield is easy to install and deploy when riding, it can be used like a visor or pulled down so that you actually look through it.

No more need for sunglasses! – This is really a must have at this point. No more sunglasses, no more having to bring a clear shield to swap in when the sun goes down! It can be a little tricky to raise and drop the shade at first, but READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and it’s easy after that. When riding with the tinted portion up, it does catch a little of the wind at speed, but chances are, if I’m flipping the visor up to see, im probably in a situation that warrants slowing down a bit, like darkness. Love the look, love the utility, and I love that it accepts the pinlock fog shields! If you’re thinking about getting one, just get it already. You won’t be disappointed.

A useful kludge – So, it works, pretty much like you’d expect. Will it work for you? Go for a ride at your normal freeway speed, put your hand on top of your helmet, if the wind is trying hard to blow your hand off, you might not like this with the tinted part in the up position. My bike has a good enough windscreen that I’m happy enough with it, and given that Arai doesn’t offer an internal tinted visor, nor can you get a photochromatic visor for my Signet X, this works well enough.

Must have accessory! – I love my Arai helmet (Signet X), but hated that they didn’t offer a photochromic shield for it. After getting this shield, and using it for a few thousand miles, I don’t miss the option. The biggest benefit to me is when the sun is overhead, or I’m travelling in shadows, I can flip up the shield (easily with one hand) to have a completely clear, untinted view. It works like an adventure helmets peak. Shields the eyes but doesn’t change the color of your surroundings. It feels well made overall but the eyebrow vents seem a little less positive in action than the standard vents. It isn’t enough of an issue to deduct a star from the review though.
